E Series DME Cloning Service in the North East - Quick and Easy

BMW E Series Siemens/Continental DME Cloning – Keep Your Original Keys

If your BMW E Series has a failed Siemens/Continental DME and the dealer has quoted £2000–£4000 for a new unit and new keys, there is a better option. Key Crafters can clone your original DME into a used replacement, so the car starts exactly as before and you keep all existing keys and coding.

What this service does

✅ Clones your original Siemens/Continental DME (ECU) into a compatible used unit.

✅ Keeps your existing keys, ISN, VIN, injector codes and immobiliser synchronisation.

✅ Avoids CAS/DME matching at the dealer and the cost of new keys.

✅ Suitable for non‑starting, water‑damaged or intermittently failing DMEs.

Once cloning is complete, the replacement DME is a plug‑and‑play match for your vehicle with no additional programming required on your side in normal cases.

Supported BMW engines and Siemens/Continental DMEs

This dedicated service covers the following BMW E‑series petrol engines and DME types:

🔧 N26 Engine: MSV80

🔧 N43 Engine: MSD80, MSD81

🔧 N51 Engine: MSD80, MSV80

🔧 N52 Engine: MSD80, MSV80, MSV90, MSV70

🔧 N53 Engine: MSD80, MSD81, MSV80, MSV90

🔧 N54 Engine: MSD80, MSD81

🔧 N63 Engine: MSD85

🔧 S63 Engine: MSD85

🔧 S65 Engine: MSS60

If your BMW uses one of the DME types listed above, the immobiliser, VIN and configuration data from your original control unit can be transferred into a good used replacement, restoring full functionality without altering your keys or CAS module.

Typical fault symptoms

❌ Engine cranks but will not start, or starts intermittently.

❌ DME internal fault codes, no communication, or corrupted flash/eeprom.

❌ Water ingress or physical damage to the control unit.

❌ Misfire, cutting out or random running issues traced to the DME.

In all of these cases, cloning a known‑good used DME to match your car is often more cost‑effective and reliable than attempting repeated on‑car programming or buying brand new from BMW.

How the Siemens/Continental DME cloning process works

1. You or Key Crafters source a compatible Siemens/Continental DME with matching hardware and part number.

2. Your original DME and the donor DME are read on the bench using specialist BMW tooling.

3. Immobiliser, VIN, coding, adaptations and, where appropriate, injector calibrations and ISN are cloned to the donor unit.

4. The cloned DME is refitted to the vehicle as a plug‑and‑play unit; your existing keys and CAS/DME synchronisation remain intact.

For most jobs there is no need to alter your keys, CAS module or vehicle configuration, which significantly reduces cost and downtime.

Service options and pricing

✅ Mobile service available across Crook, County Durham and surrounding areas for on‑car removal and refit.

✅ Postal service available if you prefer to send original and donor DMEs for off‑car cloning.

✅ Pricing depends on DME type and complexity, with Siemens/Continental units such as MSV70, MSV80, MSD80, MSD81, MSV90, MSD85 and MSS60 typically far cheaper than dealer replacement including keys and programming.
