SEAT & the VAG family
SEAT has been part of Volkswagen Audi Group since 1986 and from the mid-2000s shares platforms, immobilisers and electronic architecture with VW and Skoda. Practically that means: the same tools and procedures work on a Leon as a Golf. Cupra became a standalone brand in 2018 but mechanically the cars are still SEAT/VAG platform underneath.
Models we work on
Ibiza
Mk3 / Mk4 are older IMMO3/4 — quick, cheap. Mk5 (KJ) is MQB-A0 / IMMO5 — same as the current Polo. Spare keys £180–£350.
Leon
Mk2 and early Mk3 are IMMO3/4. Mk3 facelift and Mk4 are MQB / IMMO5 — same as the Golf 7 and 8. Cupra Leon variants same toolset. Spare £220–£400.
Ateca, Arona, Tarraco
Current SUV trio. All MQB / IMMO5. Ateca shares with Tiguan, Tarraco with Tiguan Allspace and Kodiaq. £280–£420 for a spare.
Cupra Formentor & Born
Formentor is MQB-evo. Born is the MEB electric platform (shares with VW ID.3). We handle both — Formentor is straightforward, Born is more involved but we do them.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a spare SEAT Leon key?
Most modern Leon (Mk3 facelift onwards) spare keys £280–£400 fitted at your kerb. Older Leon Mk2 / early Mk3 £220–£280. Quoted fixed price from your registration.
Can you do Cupra Formentor keys?
Yes. Formentor is MQB-evo platform — same toolset as a Golf 8 or Tiguan. Spare £300–£420, all-keys-lost £420–£500.
My SEAT Ibiza key broke in half — can you save it?
Often yes. If the chip and remote board are intact we transplant them into a fresh OEM-quality casing from £55+ plus the case. If the electronics are damaged we cut and program a complete new key — same as a spare.
Do you cover Cupra Born (electric)?
Yes. Born uses the MEB platform shared with VW ID.3 — we do them, though they take a bit longer than a petrol Cupra. Phone us with the reg for a fixed price.
All keys lost on my SEAT Ateca — can you really do it kerbside?
Yes. Ateca is MQB / IMMO5, same as a Tiguan. All-keys-lost is around £400–£500 fitted with a 17-minute manufacturer-imposed waiting period. You'll be driving the same day.
Will the key be genuine SEAT branded?
OEM-quality keys with the SEAT or Cupra logo on them — visually and functionally identical to a dealer key, same parts from the same supply chain. 12-month warranty.
